Day 4 - Victoria Road Trip
Today we ventured out in the car for a tour around the coastal area near Victoria. We started in town near the cruise ship area and the breakwater.
We found a human powered sun dial that was pretty accurate once we figured out it was on Pacific standard time. Duhhh....
From there we just follwed the coastal shoreline to Oak Bay taking in the views over the water.
At Oak Bay we stopped in at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club to visit with their director of sailing that we had met last week in Niagara-on-the-Lake when our club had hosted the Canada Summer Games sailing event. We had a great tour of the club and an invitation to come back for dinner when we return here in a few weeks.
From here we went to Mount Douglas for a panoramic view of the the area.
After all of the walking over the past two days we decided to give it a rest and headed back to the condo and after a bit of a rest to get ready for tomorrow's departure, went a relatively short distance downtown to the Empress Hotel and the Q Bar for a late afternoon Martini (only one each @ $23).
We did some shopping at MEC which is only a block away from our place and ended up at the Tug Restaurant for supper.
Tomorrow we depart for a drive along the western coast to Port Renfrew with some shoreline hikes and attractions along the way. Apparently there is no cell service in Port Renfrew so we will have to see if we can post any updates to the travel blog for the next couple of days?
